Put your political advisor cap on and describe, along with me, the kind of campaign you think Obama should run from now until November.
While it may be true that he has to distance himself from the over the top Reverend Wright, the reason I believe it took so long to put Hillary Clinton away was that she appealed to the people who have been stepped on, put down, and held back. For me, I'm going to go against logic and suggest that he would be well served by coming off a great deal angrier. I think people are ready for an angry presidential nominee, somebody who's mad as hell and won't take it anymore.
And, I don't think it matters if that nominee is black or white.
Many black and hispanics are confronted daily with tangible evidence that they are second class citizens. Percentagewise, poor and working class whites make very little headway at improving their lot. Middle aged and older women have cause to feel that life hasn't been fair to them and, I believe, each of these groups is silently screaming for an outlet for their emotions.
And I also believe that the college educated liberals understand the need for emotion now and will not be put off by an angry black man shouting about the transgressions of Washington.
I want Obama to kick McCain off the stage and would love to hear how you think he could best do it.
